Towards the end of 2003, the U.S. government passed a law that enabled phone users to block unwanted calls from telemarketers. This bill applies to both cell phone users as well as phones registered to landlines. Being added to the no call list will remove your information from any data source that can be accessed by these annoying marketers. Listed below are the two ways to complete this task.

This government website will walk you step by step through the process, and make adding you number to the extremely easy.

It will take about a month to process your request, so don.t be surprised if you continue getting calls for 30 days or so. After that 30 day span, it is considered against the law for people to make sales calls to any number registered. If for some reason you continue to receive marketing calls, return to www.donotcall.gov , and lodge a complaint against the marketer who called you. Your number will remain on the no call list for a period of five years. When you registration expires, simply follow the steps listed above to renew you registration.
